Maxim is known as a magazine for males. It started in the United Kingdom and quickly spread across the world. It is know for its famous pictorials of female singers, actresses, and models because they usually have little clothing on, but they are never completely naked. In the United States, there are over 2.5 million readers, outselling competition all over the world.

It has become popular in countries such as Argentina, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, Greece, and Russia. Therefore, in 1999, a website was launched to better serve readers. In 2005, a wireless program was launched to serve customers in over 20 different countries. The web applications cover general topics and have a “Joke of the Day” and “Today’s Girls”.

A radio show debuted in February 2005 that featured a male-oriented talking program. The magazine had planned to build a casino in 2006 in Las Vegas but were denied when individuals living near the site complained that it would ruin their view. They eventually partnered with the Ultimate Fighter for the “Octagon Girl Search”.

It has been highly controversial because some people think that it promotes the sexual objectification of women and extreme alcohol consumption. It was protested at a college in 2004 during a “Coors Light Girl Search”. Ads were removed from a German football stadium in response to a protest of the portrayal of women in the advertisements.

In Israel, the magazine became known as “beers and babes” because of controversial photo shoots of half-naked Israeli women that were serving in the army. It caused an angry reaction among lawmakers. Then in 2008, there were accused of reviewing an album without listening to it. A representative of the company said that they cannot listen to all albums before making a review because there is simply not enough time. If they do not have time, the simply give an educated guess preview.

Even though this is a highly controversial company, it has been given incredible reviews in men’s sports, travel, nutrition and fashion. It shows a new approach to the “mans world” and is well rounded. Reviews show that it has informative, compelling articles that are an easy read.

Maxim is know to have a unique mix of journalism, humor, and answering questions of males all around the globe. They can be purchased at most stores for a fairly low price. A subscription can be purchased online for customers to save money. The subscriptions will be sent to the individuals address once a month.

To identify, quantify, and rank the traits that make a man "hot" to women.

Methods and Subjects

We surveyed more than 1,000 American women ages 21 to 54 in two online polls. One was conducted by Opinion Research Corporation, based in Princeton, New Jersey, and the other was done on BestLifeOnline.com.

Results
We organized traits and characteristics according to the percentage of women who ranked them within the top 10 attributes. Women rated traits relating to character and personality much higher than they scored those reflecting physical attractiveness. For example, only 13 percent of women included muscular build as a requisite for hotness, while 66 percent placed moral integrity as a "make me quiver" characteristic. Check out the supporting data.
