Dogon: The Tribe that Stunned The World (Part II)

Nummo
The Half man Half fish God

In the first part of this article, we have read of the ancient astronomical knowledge of the Dogons. All related to the star Sirius, linked to the Egiptian God Isis (Sirius Egypt Mithology). All of this astornomical knowledge were proved to be true in XIX and XX century, making the Dogon to stunned all the scientific wolrd with this imposible-like knowledge. This passing oraly from generation to generation by oral traditions. They say all this knowledge was given to them by the Nummo.

In the lates 30´s four Dogon priests shared their most important secret tradition with two French anthropologists, Marcel Griaule and Germain Dieterlen after they had spent an apprenticeship of fifteen years living with the tribe. These were secrets myths about the star Sirius.

The Dogon priests told that Sirius had a companion stars that was invisible to human eye. They also stated that the satr moved in a 50-year elliptical orbit around Sirius (49.9 years; Sirius The Ascendence of Our Existence) that it was small and incredibly heavy, and that it rotated on its axis. (Smaller that Earth but 8 times heavier than our Sun).

Sirius B was suspected to exist in 1844 by Friederich Wilhelm Bessel, and finally discovered in 1962 by Alvan Graham Clark.

They name the star Sirius B "Po Tolo". Tolo means Star, and Po small seed. Seed, refering to creation. Human Creation. Curiously dogon speak of the smallness of the star and say "The smallest thing there is". Sirius B have three properties according to the Dogon: Small, Heavy, White.

The Nommo are ancestral spirits (sometimes referred to as deities) worshipped by the Dogon. The Word "Nommos" is derived from a Dogon word meaning "to make one drink"; the Nommos are usually described as amphibius, fish-like, hermaproditic, creatures.

Folk art depictions of the Nommos show creatures with hummanoid upper torsos, legs/feet, and fish-like lower torso and tail. The Nommons are also referred to as "Master of The Water", "The Monitors" and "The Teachers.

Nommo can be a proper name of an Individual, or can refer to the group of spirits as a whole. Nommo; individual, Nommos; group.

According to Dogon mythology states the Nommo was the first living creature created by the Sky God Amma. Shortly after his creation, Nommo underwent a tranformation and multiplied into four part of twins. One of the twins rebbelled against the universal order created by Amma. To restore order to his creation, Amma sacrificed another of the Nommo Progeny, whose body was dismembered and scattered throughout the world.

The Dogon belief that the Nommos were inhabitants
of a world circling the star Sirius.

The Nommos descend from the sky in a vessel accompanied by fire and thunder. After arriving, the Nommos created a resvoir of water and subsequently dove into the water. The Dogon legends state that Nommos requiered a watery environmet in wich to live. "The Nommo divided his body among men to feed them"; that is why it is also said that as the universe "had drunk of his body", the Nommo also made men drink. "He gave all his life principles to human beigns".

The Nommo was crucified on a tree, but was resurrected and returned to his home world. Dogon legend has it that he will return in the future to revisit the Earth in a human form.

Can it be this the day that Mayans, Celtics
and other cultures have been telling us for millenia?
